Reverend Joshua Obeng, the Resident Pastor of Calvary Charismatic Center (CCC), has raised concerns over the growing obsession with political prophecies among some members of the clergy.
Speaking to the media in Kumasi on Tuesday morning, Pastor Joshua questioned the narrative that God’s primary focus is on political leadership or the outcome of elections.
He noted that the true heartbeat of God remains the salvation of souls and the spiritual growth of humanity.
Distraction of Political Predictions:
Addressing the current trend of prophetic utterances regarding political candidates, Pastor Joshua expressed bewilderment at the shift in ministerial focus.
“It is surprising to see the motives behind the current frenzy of political prophecies within the Christian community,” he remarked.
He noted that, “rather than teaching the message of Christ, some pastors are now preoccupied with prophesying about who will lead a political party or who will become the next President of Ghana.”
He challenged the notion that God is primarily concerned with partisan politics, emphasizing instead that the divine desire is for all people to encounter Christ as their Lord and Savior.
Essential Role of Leadership:
While dismissing the spiritualization of political outcomes, Pastor Joshua was quick to emphasize that leadership itself is the cornerstone of progress.
He argued that the development of a nation, institution, or individual is inextricably linked to the quality of its leaders.
Human Development:
Proper spiritual and social growth occurs only under sound leadership, PastorJoshua stated.
Organizational Success:
He noted that successful nations and organizations thrive because they intentionally elect and appoint the right individuals to oversee their affairs.
Call for Deliberation:
He asserted that for Ghana and other institutions to flourish, there must be a deliberate effort to establish the right kind of leadership.
Start Well Conference:
The media briefing served as a precursor to the CCC’s upcoming “Start Well Conference,” scheduled for January 22nd to 24th.
The conference will feature the renowned Dr. Mensa Otabil as the guest speaker.
Pastor Joshua explained that the choice of Dr. Otabil was intentional.
Given the current challenges facing the country, the church leadership felt his four decades of experience in shaping mindsets and inspiring hope were vital for the season.
“The leadership of CCC is convinced that Dr. Mensa Otabil carries a unique mantle to address the subject of leadership,” Pastor Joshua stated.
He added that, “Dr Otabil’s teachings help set the right order in institutions, empowering citizens to become the best versions of themselves in their respective fields.”
Background:
The “Start Well Conference” aims to provide the people of Kumasi with the spiritual and practical tools necessary to navigate the year with excellence and purpose.
