The Chiefs and People of the Akpini Traditional Area, Kpando have joined the Rotary Club of Ho to raise funds towards the upgrade of the Kpando Health Centre which is in very bad shape.
The Kpando Health Centre, which is over sixty years old has leaky roof, rotten ceilings, inadequate and substandard beds, old equipment and consequently, demotivated staff.
On Saturday 16th September, 2023, The Rotary Club of Ho held a Presidential Ball at the plush Volta Serene Hotel to raise funds towards the renovation and upgrade of the hospital in partnership with the Akpini Paramountcy.
During the Ball, President of the Rotary Club of Ho, Dr. Alphonse Makafui Dzakpasu gave the assurance that the project will be executed in order to give some relief to the people of Kpando.

For his part, Togbui Dagadu IX, Akpinifia; Paramount Chief of the Area rehashed the need for the project and expressed gratitude to some folks who have contributed immensely towards his vision of upgrading the facility.
He thanked Mr. Bernard Asamani, Mr. Eric Kutortse, Dr. Makafui Dzakpasu and the Rotary Club, staff of the Municipal Health Directorate, staff of the Health Centre as well as his Chiefs, Queen mothers and Elders for their support for the project.
He was also grateful to Mr. Sebastian Deh; NDC Parliamentary Candidate for releasing a facility he helped put up at Kpando Aziave to be used as a Department of the Polyclinic.
Togbui Dagadu IX, shortly after his installation last year, took it upon himself to find the needed support towards putting the facility in shape and possibly, upgrading it from a health centre to a Polyclinic.

In an interview, Togbui expressed how he picked up his vision with some health experts in the area and quickly had a team that drove his vision.
“We are aware of the economic constraints the country faces and had to find a self-help model that would work for us”, he said.
“Mr. Bernard Asamani, one of my committed men took it up and spoke to Rotary international Club of Ho. Dr. Alphonse Makafui Dzakpasu, a medical Doctor and President-elect of the club took the project seriously and here we are, eyeing the completion of the project before or by the end of the year” Togbui explained.
He revealed that aside the renovation of the maternity unit, which has been the spine of the facility, he intends to fully re-equip the facility, add a dental unit, a confirmatory laboratory department equipped with PCR testing equipment, wall the facility, renovate the conference rooms, tile the hospital floors and improve the human resource capacity of the facility in order to run a 24-hour service.
