Robbers stab woman dead over iPhone 11

TWO SUSPECTED robbers have reportedly stabbed a woman dead over iPhone 11 Pro at Asokore Mampong near Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, the police has reported.

The suspects, who have been arrested, are Farouk Iddris, aged 20 years, a motorbike mechanic and rider, and Salim Mohammed, aged 19 years, a motorbike mechanic and rickshaw rider.

The duo were said to have robbed and murdered one Silver Ngozi, a 28-year-old female December 6, 2025 at about 5:00 pm at Asokore Mampong. They afterwards went into hiding for some days.

“Following intelligence-led operations, on December 12, 2025 at about 9:00 pm, a joint team from the Regional Police Headquarters and the Anti-Robbery Unit, Kumasi, arrested the suspects at their hideout at Aboabo, Kumasi.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects robbed the deceased, during which one of them allegedly
stabbed her with a knife, leading to her death”, DSP Godwin Ahianyo, Head of Public Affairs Unit, Ashanti Regional Police Command, said.

In a press statement, he noted that a zigzag-edged knife that the suspects used to stab their victim dead and the iPhone 11 Pro, which they stole from her, have all been retrieved from the suspects for evidential reasons.

“During interrogation both suspects admitted to committing the robbery. A search conducted in the room of Farouk Iddris led to the retrieval of a machete, knives, and other offensive weapons.

“The zigzag-edged knife has been retained for evidential purposes. Additionally, an iPhone 11 Pro, belonging to the deceased and stolen during the robbery, has been retrieved and retained as evidence”, he disclosed.

DSP Ahianyo said Salim Mohammed, who was the pillion rider on the day of the incident, has identified a zigzag-edged knife as the weapon he used to stab the deceased.

According to the Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Ashanti Regional Command “The suspects are currently in Police custody assisting with investigations and will be put before court”.
