In a bid to enhance fire safety and preparedness, Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene has issued a stern warning to individuals and entities obstructing fire hydrants in the region.
This directive follows a review of fire hydrants, ordered by the Minister on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, which uncovered alarming revelations.
The Minister took to his personal Facebook account to serve a public notice, urging those responsible for building on, blocking, or erecting structures over fire hydrants to take immediate action to remove these obstructions.
“Let this serve as a public notice: anyone who has built on, blocked, or erected structures over fire hydrants should take immediate steps to remove them,” he stated.
Dr. Amoakohene cautioned that a team will soon be deployed to enforce compliance, and those found wanting will face swift consequences.
This proactive measure demonstrates the government’s commitment to preventing and mitigating fire disasters, which have ravaged various parts of the country in recent times.
The Minister also expressed his gratitude to the officers of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) for their dedication to ensuring the region’s fire safety.
