Our candidate won Ablekuma North parliamentary election—Justin Frimpong Kodua

Less than 1 minute Minutes

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Lawyer Justin Frimpong Kodua says the party won the 2024 Parliamentary Election in Ablekuma North.

Speaking to this reporter, Lawyer Kodua said the NPP’s Parliamentary candidate, Akua Afriyieh won the polls with over 400 votes.

This, he intimated meant that same was to have been declared in favour of its candidate and the Party by the Electoral Commission (EC) on December 7, 2024.

“Every single pink sheet and scanned copies of the Parliamentary election results in Ablekuma North showed our candidate, Madam Akua Afriyieh won the polls with over 400 votes and seeing that they had lost the election, the NDC disrupted the tallying and collation processes despite their agents signing the pink sheets”, the NPP General Secretary intimated.

Boycott Of Re-Run:

The General Secretary said the NPP was boycotting Friday’s re-run of the stipulated polling stations by the EC on the basis of principle.

He noted that the EC had earlier said three of the outstanding pink sheets were not in their custody and relied on the parties for same.

Lawyer Kodua said that should have settled the matter since the tabulation on those pink sheets showed a clear winner in the person of the NPP’s candidate.

“It beats logic and reasoning that having access to all these facts and incontrovertible evidence, the EC has shifted the goal post from three outstanding results in the constituency to the re-run of 19 polling stations when such was not in contention and is contrary to the orders the court gave when the matter was brought before same”, the NPP Chief scribe posited.

Legal Remedy:

The General Secretary said the NPP having filed its case at the court would rely on same to determine its fate.

He noted that the NPP would therefore not participate in Friday’s re-run in the constituency.

Lawyer Kodua intimated that any attempt by the party to participate in the polls would be legitimising absurdity and flouting the law of the Land regarding election dispute.

“We are staying out to fight our case in the law court where explicit instructions and orders were earlier given to the EC and the contending political parties to comply with”, the General Secretary stated.
