The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, have jointly commissioned key development projects at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
The projects commissioned include the KNUST-Enfoni Souvenir Shop, Multi-Purpose Laboratory Building, KNUST Bottling Limited Company, KNUST Agri-Impact Greenhouse Project, Institute for Rural Development and Innovation Studies (IRDIS) Building, and KNUST Children’s Playground.
The commissioning ceremony took place on Saturday, November 29, during the university’s 59th Congregation.
Present at the event were Akyamfoɔ Asafo Boakye Agyemang-Bonsu, Chairman of the University Council; Prof. Mrs. Rita Akosua Dickson, Vice Chancellor; Ministers, Members of Parliament, traditional leaders, and other prominent alumni of the school.
These projects are expected to enhance the university’s academic and research capabilities, promote entrepreneurship, and provide a conducive environment for students.
The KNUST Agri-Impact Greenhouse Project, for instance, is a partnership with Agri-Impact, bringing the total number of greenhouse farms managed by Agri-Impact–led subsidiary Fresh Logistics on the KNUST campus to 21.
During the 59th Congregation ceremony, 221 PhD degrees were awarded, and honorary doctorates were conferred on distinguished individuals.
