Jacqueline Twumasi, an indigene of Okyerekrom in the Fumesua Community within the Ejisu Municipality has together with friends and acquaintances launched the First Lady’s Foundation at the weekend.
Speaking at the official inaugural and fundraising event, Madam Twumasi popularly known as “Her Excellency”, said her passion was to see children happy at all times.
However, she noted that the reverse has been the case at some orphanages in Ghana.
“As a mother I believe every kid whether their parents are alive or not should be cared for and kept in good environments”, Mrs Twumasi stated.
Rationale:
She emphasised that the purpose of the First Lady’s Foundation is to help in addressing the challenges found in some of these orphanages across Ghana particularly in Ashanti.
Madam Twumasi revealed that she had visited some orphanages in Fumesua including the Kiku Orphanage to see how kids were being catered for at the homes.
These visits, she mentioned had given her an idea of what is urgently needed to keep the kids nourished and cared for in better ways.
“Today with some members of the Board of Directors, Executives as well as family members we launch this Foundation so that together we can generate funds to support orphanages so as to make life more bearable for the kids found there”, Madam Twumasi intimated.
Source of Funding:
The Foundation Chief Executive said the outfit would request for assistance from well doing persons in the society, especially residents of Ejisu including Fumesua and Okyerekrom.
However, she disclosed that the funding and running of the project to the orphanages would be mainly done by the Foundation members and executives.
Madam Twumasi also revealed that they were in the process of getting the Foundation’s own Bank Account so people could contribute into it as well.
Currently, the CEO said interested persons who have passion for children including corporate organisations could donate sums of money to its mobile money account which is 0553-029-414 with name Adwoa Owusua as bearer.
