Exactly a week ago, a devastating fire razed hundreds of temporary structures, destroying goods and wares in shops and buildings at Adum Bluelight, Akwasi Agyemang building, and the adjacent Hello FM building.

The fire lasted several hours before firefighters brought it under control.

Since the fire outbreak, prominent government members, including President John Dramani Mahama, ministers of state, and members of Parliament in the region, have visited the disaster area to console victims, donate cash and items, and promise further support.

Last Tuesday, former Vice President Dr. Mahmoud Bawumia, accompanied by former Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah and other party functionaries, consoled fire victims and donated ₵200,000 and 1,000 bags of cement.

To the surprise of many fire victims, the NPP General Secretary and National Organiser, both natives of the region, today joined the list of well-wishers to offer words of support and condolences to the traders.

The two with donation of ¢ 100, 000 also expressed their shock and grief over the disaster and promised their support, requesting the government to intervene immediately to restore the victims’ normal businesses.

The traders thanked them for their visit, urging them to keep their promise and support.
