Napo’s Manhyia South records second highest votes for Bawumia in Ashanti region

MANHYIA SOUTH Constituency played an important role in ensuring Dr. Bawumia’s emphatic victory in Saturday’s New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential race, Press1News is aware.

The former vice president of Ghana recorded a colossal 453 of the total valid votes cast in the constituency, representing 79.17%.

Manhyia South finished second in terms of votes for Dr. Bawumia in the Ashanti region behind Effiduase Asokore, who had 91.55% of votes for Dr. Bawumia.

Significantly, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh aka ‘Napo’, who was Dr. Bawumia’s running mate for the 2024 presidential elections, hails from the Manhyia South Constituency.

Napo was NPP Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South Constituency for four consecutive terms before he partnered Dr. Bawumia for the 2024 polls on NPP ticket.

The huge amount of votes that Dr. Bawumia secured in Manhyia South is a strong indication that Napo, who campaigned actively for Bawumia, is very influential and respected in his own backyard.

Dr. Bawumia’s emphatic victory in Manhyia South also confirms that Napo’s constituency has confidence in Bawumia-Napo ticket to lead the NPP to victory in 2028.
