VICE PRESIDENT Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s hopes of being elected as the NPP presidential candidate for the 2024 election has been given a lifeline.
Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh aka ‘Napo’, a top and an influential member of the NPP, has openly endorsed Dr. Bawumia to lead the ruling NPP as flagbearer.
Napo, who doubles as the Energy Minister and Member of Parliament MP for Manhyia South, has stated that Dr. Bawumia is the perfect choice for the party.
According to him, he sees Dr. Bawumia as his own father so if his father (Bawumia) is seeking to lead the NPP, he has no other choice than to back him.
“Otumfuo, the overlord of Asanteman is my grandfather and he (Otumfuo) has adopted Dr. Bawumia as his own son, so logically Dr. Bawumia is my father.
“And if my father is contesting to lead the NPP as presidential candidate, I can’t turn my back against my father, so I have declared my unflinching support for Dr. Bawumia.
“I’m also urging my constituents and supporters in the country and beyond to also declare for Dr. Bawumia to lead our great party to victory in 2024”, Napo said.
He was addressing NPP delegates in the Manhyia South Constituency when Dr. Bawumia stormed the area to campaign for votes.
Napo also said aside being his father, Dr. Bawumia is competent, hard working and a visionary leader, who will help the NPP to retain power in 2024.
