Strategic Partnership for Culture:

Speaking at the launch event, Simon Amoh, Senior Manager for General Affairs (Northern Sector) at MTN Ghana, highlighted the company’s evolving role in the initiative.

Having supported the festival’s preliminary stages last year, MTN has now stepped up as a primary partner to ensure the 2026 edition reaches its full potential.

“We have collaborated closely with the Regional Minister on the vision for this festival. Today, we are proud to officially launch the 2026 edition, fully integrated as a lead partner,” Mr. Amoh stated.

Comprehensive Sponsorship Package:

MTN Ghana’s support extends across the festival’s diverse pillars, focusing on accessibility and community spirit:

Grand Concert:

MTN will fully fund the festival’s flagship musical event in Kumasi, covering all ticketing costs to ensure the public can attend free of charge.

Sporting Excellence:

The company is the sole sponsor of the festival’s football gala, providing everything from venue branding and jerseys to trophies, player refreshments, and cash prizes.

Hospitality:

Demonstrating a holistic approach, MTN also sponsored the official launch luncheon for invited dignitaries and stakeholders.

Mr. Amoh further noted that the company remains open to further collaboration: “Should the Regional Minister identify additional avenues for support, MTN Ghana stands ready to contribute to the festival’s ultimate success.”

Catalyst for Growth:

For MTN, the motivation for this partnership is rooted in its identity as an African brand.

Mr. Amoh emphasized that culture is the primary vehicle through which community values and communication are preserved across generations.

“Culture is central to our operations. As an African company, we identify deeply with Ghana’s heritage. It is through these traditions that we transmit values from one generation to the next,” he explained.

Call to Action:

The telecommunications leader urged residents, media practitioners, and digital content creators to act as ambassadors for the event.

By leveraging social media and traditional reporting, Mr. Amo believes the festival can solidify the Ashanti Region’s status as a premier global cultural hub.

“Let us embrace this initiative with enthusiasm. By sharing these experiences, we project the richness of the Ashanti Region to the world,” Mr. Amo concluded.

Regional Minister:

On his part, the Ashanti Regional Minister commended MTN for its partnership with the Ashanti Rwgional Coordinating Council (ARCC) for the Ashantifest celebration.

Aside economic benefits, the Minister notes that all stakeholders in the Ashanti economy would have a part to play and to obtain dividends.

Summary:

The 2026 Ashanti Festival will run throughout the month, featuring a tapestry of music, sports, and art.

With MTN Ghana’s backing, the event is expected to drive significant tourism, bolster the local economy, and foster social cohesion across the region.
