MTN Ghana Lauds Black Queens For Securing WAFCON Qualification

Telecommunication leader, MTN Ghana has congratulated the Black Queens, Ghana’s senior women’s national football team, for qualifying for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), which will be hosted in Morocco.

In a statement, Mr. Stephen Blewett, Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana, hailed the team’s emphatic 7–0 victory over Egypt’s Cleopatra as a reflection of their hard work, determination, and teamwork.

“Your spectacular victory is not only a statement of intent but also a reflection of your unity and excellence. You have made the nation proud, and we celebrate this outstanding achievement with you,” Mr. Blewett said.

He encouraged the Black Queens to maintain their focus and step up preparations for the continental tournament, stressing that greater dedication and discipline will be needed to excel in Morocco.

“As you prepare for WAFCON 2026, we urge you to stay disciplined, focused, and committed to even harder training. The task ahead is great, but so is your potential,” he added.

Reaffirming MTN’s ongoing commitment to supporting women’s football and Ghana’s national teams, Mr. Blewett compared the Black Queens’ determination to MTN’s own ‘Can-Do Spirit’—a symbol of resilience, belief, and excellence.
