Manhyia Palace to host 29th GJA/KGL Media Awards

The 29th Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) and KGL Media Awards is set to take place on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the prestigious Manhyia Palace.

The Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, has graciously accepted the role of Patron for the 29th GJA/KGL Awards, further underscoring the importance of the event.

The theme for this year’s ceremony is “Safeguarding Ghana’s Future: The Role of the Media in Promoting Peace, Security, and the Fight Against Galamsey.”

President John Dramani Mahama is expected to deliver the keynote address, bringing his wealth of experience and insights to the critical issues facing the nation.

Other special guests expected at the event include Rt. Hon. Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin, Speaker of Parliament, and His Lordship Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, Acting Chief Justice.

Mr. Alex Apau Dadey, Executive Chairman of KGL Group, will also grace the occasion, highlighting the strong partnership between the media and the private sector in promoting national development.

The GJA/KGL Media Awards which is a benchmark for excellence in journalism, recognizing the outstanding work of journalists who have demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and dedication to the profession.

It is also expected to attract a large gathering of media professionals, policymakers, and stakeholders in the development sector.

With the menace of illegal mining known in local parlance as galamsey posing a significant threat to the country’s future, the media’s role in raising awareness and holding stakeholders accountable cannot be overemphasized.
