In categorical terms, Teacher Kantanka, a historian at the Manhyia Palace has denied any form of intervention in the bail process of Mr. Paul Adom-Otchere, former Board Chairman of Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), from the custody of the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
Mr. Adom-Otchere, also an ace journalist was invited by the OSP in connection with a revenue assurance contract between GACL and a private firm, allegedly awarded without board approval.
He was detained in OSP custody on July 31, 2025, after failing to meet bail requirements, citing his lack of ownership of landed property in Ghana.
After his detention, Mr. Adom-Otchere expressed gratitude in a short video to senior officials at the Manhyia Palace and some prominent chiefs for their alleged intervention in his bail process at the OSP.
However, in a swift reaction, Teacher Kantanka, denied the claim in a chat with Opemsuo Radio’s journalist, Kwame Awuah Nimfour.
Teacher Kantanka emphasised that the Manhyia Palace is a revered traditional institution with well-structured communication channels, stating that all official communication emanates from the Chief of Staff and linguists, depending on the nature of the information.
He added that any intervention from an individual chief in Mr. Adom-Otchere’s bail process could not have been authorized by the Palace.
Teacher Kantanka was emphatic that the public should disregard any claims of the Palace’s or senior officers’ involvement in the former Board Chairman of GACL’s bail process at OSP.
