THE NATIONAL Executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have been urged to table a paper before the National Council and the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party for an early Congress.
This suggestion from a former constituency Chairman of the NPP, is to allow the party to elect a flag-bearer early next year.
Speaking on two kumasi based radio stations, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, former Chairman of the Afigya Kwabre South Constituency of the NPP and proponent of the early Congress said the party would have time to solve internal challenges afterwards.
“The internal flag bearership contests bring a lot of heat and factions and the earlier we have it and resolve our issues the better for us”, COKA stated.
Advantages:
COKA, as the former Chairman is affectionately called said an early Congress would help in the resolution of disputes that are bound to show up in the primaries.
He noted that factions that are bound to emerge could be reached to let go of any misgivings they may have.
The former Chairman said apart from conflict resolution which is best done early, the NPP could plan their campaign strategy early too after an early Congress.
“Our party could also plot on how best to sell our candidate very well using his image and messages so that he becomes a household name before the general elections when we do have an early Congress”, COKA said.
Encouragement:
The former Chairman encouraged the public not to despair despite having to deal with harsh economic conditions prevailing in the country now.
This, he advised should rather call on all to work harder and do their best to ensure that together they help to rebuild the Ghanaian economy.
COKA therefore urged the public to purchase made in Ghana products so that the money people make stays in the hands of Ghanaians.
“Let’s buy made in Ghana products and patronise local service solution outfits so that we can build the Ghanaian economy our own way”, the former NPP Chairman stated.
