Kwadaso Municipal Assembly honours farmers

The Kwadaso Municipal Assembly has once again demonstrated its commitment to recognizing and rewarding the tireless efforts of farmers in the municipality.

The 41st Farmers’ Day celebration, held on Friday, December 5, 2025, at the Apatrapa R/C School Park, brought together esteemed dignitaries, community members, and farmers to commemorate the invaluable contributions of farmers to the municipality’s development.

The event was themed “Eat Ghana, Feed Ghana and Secure the Future,” emphasizing the critical role farmers play in ensuring food security and national development.

Addressing the durbar, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Eric Asibey, commended farmers for their invaluable contribution to national growth and food security, urging them to work harder for the good of future generations.

He assured farmers of the government’s continuous support in making agriculture the mainstay of Ghana’s economy, requesting stakeholders to help the government achieve success in the industry.

He mentioned the Feed Ghana Programme, Nkoko Nketekete, Free Fertilizer, and Seedlings, among others, as government’s agricultural initiatives aimed at transforming the sector.

The Queen Mother of Apatrapa, Nana Achiaa Panin, thanked the MCE and the government for supporting farmers, urging other stakeholders to support government to make agriculture attractive to young people.

Mr. Bright Atawura, a farmer from Agric Kokode, was crowned as the Municipal Best Farmer, taking home a tricycle, cutlasses, weedicides, knapsack sprayers, Wellington boots, and a citation.

Also awarded were best faith-based organizations, schools, young, physically challenged, and other individuals who outstandingly excelled in agriculture in the municipality.

The Municipal Agric Director, Mrs. Mavis Agyeiwaa, congratulated farmers for their immense contribution to national development.

She also lauded the government’s commitment to improving the agricultural sector by introducing policies and programmes and called on the inhabitants to take advantage of them.

She also thanked the MCE, MP, traditional leaders, assembly members, and sponsors for a successful celebration.

Prominent among the well-attended durbar were the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Francis Adu-Boateng, assembly members, clergymen, and traditional leaders.
