A popular food service establishment, Alpha and Omega Chop Bar, located at Krobo Odumase (KO), has been closed down due to poor sanitation practices.

Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Richard Ofori-Agyeman Boadi, ordered the immediate closure of the restaurant during a visit with a task force and media.

He was on a routine tour of Kumasi’s central business district when he chanced upon the restaurant’s poor sanitation environment.

The mayor and his team witnessed a toilet facility and urinal being operated in close proximity to the restaurant, posing a threat to patrons who queue to buy food daily.

Aside from the untidiness, waste from the restaurant’s operation was being disposed of indiscriminately, posing a threat to traders and occupants in the area.

The mayor seized the opportunity to warn food vendors and businesses to adhere to sanitation standards, lest they face consequences for their environmental negligence.
