The revitalisation and modernization of Kumasi Children’s Park, located at Amakom, to a first-class recreational center is underway in full swing.

The “Revitalising Kumasi Children’s Park” project is being financed by the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and Lady Julia Foundation in collaboration with First Atlantic Bank and Nvugu Mining Limited.

The Children’s Park, once a beloved recreational center for children, was abandoned for decades, with structures and grounds taken over by criminals and used for other deviant activities.

Perturbed by the disturbing condition of the recreational center, the Manhyia Palace has taken it upon itself to bring back the glory days of the Children’s Park with a modern touch.

On Thursday, June 5, 2025, a delegation from the Manhyia Palace, including Lady Julia, the wife of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, was joined by the Mayor of Kumasi, Richard Ofori-Agyeman Boadi, to inspect the works at the famous recreational center under revitalisation.

The Manhyia’s delegation was also accompanied by project consultants engineers, planners, and KMA officials to discuss the architectural designs for Phase One of the park.

The Phase One includes the construction of a perimeter wall, washrooms, security post, main entrance, and rehabilitation of existing structures in the park.

During the visit to the project site, the Mayor of Kumasi pledged the government’s support for the “Revitalizing Kumasi Children’s Park” project, noting that the project aligns with the vision of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA).

He promised to provide security and clear unauthorized structures that could obstruct the progress of the works.
