KMA’s “Where Ghana Happens”: A Show of Tradition and Pride

2 Minutes

Staff of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) led by Metro Coordinating Director, Mr Francis Dwira Darko on Thursday, March 19, 2026, did the unusual when they wore traditional dresses to perform their official mandates.

It was a true reminiscent of good old days’ dress codes and show of traditional pride seeing the staff put aside their official dresses to mark Ghana Month.

The men were in their beautiful kente clothes, smocks, locally made attires with slippers to match, while their female counterparts were gorgeously dressed in traditional clothes with scarves, regalia, and slippers to match.

Intrinsically motivated Kingsley Sarkodie, Head of Records Unit of the Assembly, as usual, did not only leave the day to chance but also demonstrated quality organisation and leadership skills.

Visibly seen in his rich kente with traditional slipper to match, he made sure elite gentlemen and ladies in their traditional attire were captured by the official camera, for records.

The staff began the celebrations, donning jerseys to work last Friday, predominantly Black Stars and Asante Kotoko, as part of the Ghana Month Celebrations.

Thursday, March 26, promises to be a super departmental cooking showdown at the office car park.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service who stole the show last year have vowed to repeat their performance, but other departments and units, particularly Assembly Members, have equally vowed to cause an upset in the cooking competition.

The KMA has its mantra, “Where Ghana Happens”, so it’s believed that Thursday would present another fine opportunity for their bragging rights as they wind down activities marking Ghana Month Celebrations.
