KMA reconstitutes C’ttees to strengthen local governance

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has reconstituted its Executive Committee and Sub-Committees as prescribed by Section 23 of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936).

The Executive Committee, comprising sub-committee convenors and two other members, is chaired by Metropolitan Chief Executive, Hon. Richard Ofori Agyeman Boadi.

The Finance and Administration Sub-Committee will be chaired by Hon. Daniel Baah Acheamfour, Govt. Appointee, while Hon. Kyei Moses, Assembly member for Patase, chairs the Development Planning Committee.

The Works Committee, and Justice and Security Committees will be chaired by Hon. Awudu Razak, Assembly member for Yenyawoso, and Hon. Francis Amoako Asante, Assembly member for Kokoso-Asubonteng, respectively.

The Social Services Committee, Transport Committee, and Revenue Committee will be chaired by Hon. Agripa Opoku, Assembly member for North Suntreso, Hon. Patrick Yeboah, Assembly member for Nsuoase, and Hon. Ernest Ofori Baffour, Assembly member for Fante New Town, respectively.

Convenors for Education and Environmental Management are Hon. Kwame Agyemang, Assembly member for Buokrom Estate, and Hon. Isaac Kwasi Acheampong, Assembly member for Adoato.

The remaining convenors are Hon. Abubakar Aiman, Assembly member for Afia Kobi, and Hon. Kwasi Kwarteng, Assembly member steering the affairs of Market, Trade and Industry, and Sports.

As Section 26 of Act 936 dictates, the Presiding Member, Hon. Patrick Kwame Frimpong, chairs the Public Relations and Complaints Committee (PRCC).

The Mayor of Kumasi urged the committees to work extra hard to improve revenue, promote order, and advance the development of the city.
