Honorable Richard Ofori-Agyeman Boadi, Mayor of Kumasi, has disclosed that the Assembly has reduced its bedeviling legacy debt from GH¢142 million to GH¢100 million since assuming office in April 2025.
So far, 1,452 cases have been settled through negotiations with creditors; however, there are several others confronting the Assembly.
Addressing a press soirée at KMA on Thursday, January 15, 2026, the Mayor described the situation as a major financial burden that continues to affect the Assembly’s operations and development efforts.
However, he’s brimming with confidence that, with support from the media and public, the Assembly will be able to prosecute its development agenda.
