The Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Richard Kwasi Ofori Boadi Agyeman, has ordered the current management teams of AstroTurfs in Kumasi to hand over to the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) within 30 days.

The General Assembly of the KMA has resolved that all AstroTurfs are government property and should be under the direct supervision of the Assembly.

At a meeting held on Thursday, October 30, the Mayor of Kumasi reminded AstroTurf managers that the facilities belong to the government and must be managed with transparency and accountability.

There are 11 AstroTurfs in Kumasi; eight are fully operational, while the rest are incomplete.

These AstroTurfs are being managed by individuals and groups who have no formal contract with the Assembly.
