The Metropolitan Chief Executive of Kumasi, Mr. Richard Ofori-Agyeman Boadi, laid bare his plans to work towards building a resilient and robust environment that will improve businesses in Kumasi.
As the second-biggest and busiest city in Ghana, the Mayor of Kumasi believes that the city requires a conducive atmosphere that drives investors and businesses.
To achieve this, he said the KMA intends to create spaces for vehicular movement.
The Mayor of Kumasi, who shared his plans with a regional team from the Graphic Communication Group Limited during their visit to his office on July 3, 2025, hinted that the KMA and Oforikrom Municipal Assembly are planning to create a new modern transport terminal at Oforikrom.
He stated that the intended transport terminal will take care of commercial vehicles from Greater Accra and the Eastern regions that carry passengers to Kumasi.
Furthermore, he hinted that there will be a transport terminal at Asafo, which will take care of commercial vehicles from Ahafo, Bono, and the Western regions, allowing only those that travel less than 30 kilometers from Kumasi to load at Kejetia.
He added that the government has secured funds to construct a dual carriage road from Santaase to Asokwa, to ease vehicular congestion and open up the stretch for businesses to flourish.
“I’m aiming to facilitate the building of an ultramodern conference centre in Kumasi that will host international conferences, taking advantage of the international airport in Kumasi,” he stated.
With the support of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, he said KMA is set to host a business forum dubbed “Kumasi Business Connect,” which will allow business people who are natives of the region to identify potential business areas and take advantage of them.
He thanked the team from GCGL for their visit, hoping it will mark the beginning of a strong partnership between KMA and GCGL.
Mr. Benjamin Tsatsu Korsinah, Zonal Business Manager for Ashanti, Bono, Ahafo, and the Northern regions, congratulated the Mayor on his new role, wished him well, and expressed GCGL’s desire to work together to promote the activities, programs, and policies of the Assembly.
The GCGL team included Christian Nouchie, Senior Finance and Administrative Officer; Gilbert Mawuli Agbey, Reporter; Emmanuel Baah, Photojournalist; and Stephen Asante, Vendors’ Association Chairman.
