KMA Announces Hotline to Crack Down on Deviant Commercial Drivers

Less than 1 minute Minutes

The Head of Urban Transport of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Mr. Randy Wilson, has announced that the Assembly is stepping up efforts to minimize indiscipline on the roads in Kumasi.

He announced that the public can call, record voice messages, or take pictures of vehicles whose drivers refuse to comply with city authority directives via 0244540238 for the rapid response.

Additionally, he hinted that, effective July 1, 2025, all commercial vehicles without the Assembly’s authorized stickers and affiliation with an accredited transport union will cease to operate.

By transport regulations, all commercial vehicles are required to join a transport union.

Rationally, he noted that commercial vehicles are also required to specify their routes of operation, and with this enforcement, exploitation of passengers by some drivers will cease.

It’s public knowledge that commercial drivers, in their bids to make more money illegally, often fail to stick to their routes, adopting what they describe in their parlance as the “short-short system.”

While appealing to the public to report indisciplined commercial drivers for punitive action to be taken against them, he advised drivers to respect orders and maintain sanity on the roads.
