THE VICE President of the Republic, Dr Mahamodu Bawumia says he is most competent amongst the ten persons seeking to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as flag-bearer.
Addressing delegates in the Subin Constituency Thursday morning, the Veep said he has had the opportunity to learn at first hand the challenges of the population.
Having been running mate to the current President four times and served as Vice President in two terms, the Veep said no one knows the country better than him to proffer solutions to the challenges.
“I have been groomed by both Presidents J.A Kufuor and Nana Akufo-Addo and have had the opportunity to see every community in Ghana for the past 16 years and so i am more experienced and competent to lead this party than any other”, the Veep stated.
Campaign Message:
The Veep said he was carrying out a simple message of telling the party delegates that it is possible to make Ghana do well in all facets of life.
He noted that his message is intended to rally persons in the party together to bring up ideas that would help shape the Ghana they want to see.
The Vice President said the NPP possesses human resource potentials that can turn the fortunes of the country around hence his clarion call.
“My message of It is Possible stems out of the belief that we can achieve success if we can work together and help to build the kind of Ghana we all want to see”, the Veep posited.
Unity:
The Vice President rallied the delegates to avoid tendencies that seek to divide their front.
He asked them to look to him since he was a unifier and a person whose upbringing and lifestyle brings people together.
Dr Bawumia also entreated them to shun religious and ethnic issues that tend to bring strife, adding that no matter their beliefs and backgrounds they were first Ghanaians before anything else.
“Just look at me and be people of peace because i have 17 siblings with 9 as Christians and 8 as Muslims and up till now we live together in peace because our humanity matters than anything else”, the Veep posited.
Office Commissioning:
Earlier in the day, the Veep commissioned an office complex in Asokwa donated to him by Chief of Agric Nzema, Nana Nkansah Boadu Ayeboafoh.
The space would serve as the Ashanti regional campaign office.
Joined by the MCE for Asokwa, Chief Akwannuasah Gyimah and Dr Nana Ayew Afriyie, MP for Effiduase Asokore and many high profile persons in the party to open the facility, Dr Bawumia thanked the Ashanti Region and its people for showing him great love.
