THE INTERNATIONAL Democrat Union (IDU) is currently celebrating its 40 years of existence in London, United Kingdom, in a grand fashion.

The IDU is an international alliance of center-right political parties, with membership in all continents of the world. The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is an active member of the IDU.

As expected, a high-powered delegation from the ruling NPP are currently in London, participating in series of activities, lined up to mark the IDUs milestone.

The NPP delegation, led by Madam Rita Asobayire, 2nd Vice Chairperson, includes Dr. Stephen Amoah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Nhyieaso and Deputy Minister for Trade.

Also in the delegation are Sammi Awuku, Director General, National Lottery Authority (NLA) and Kwame Kyeretwie-Amponsah, the NPP Director for External Affairs.

Seth Twumasi, the 1st Vice Chairman, NPP Manhyia South Constituency and Manaf Ibrahim, NPP top member in the Asawasi Constituency, in Kumasi, are also at the IDU.

Madam Rita Asobayire said the NPP has been an active member of the IDU for many years and she felt proud to be part of activities marking the IDUs 40 years milestone.

According to her, the NPP would continue to play important roles to help the IDU to realize its great ambition of promoting democracy across the globe at all times.

Kwame Kyeretwie-Amponsah, the NPP Director for External Affairs, also said the IDU needs to be applauded for promoting “conservatism, democracy and freedom in the last 40 years”.

Dr. Stephen Amoah, the Deputy Minister of Trade, also congratulated the IDU for its immense contributions and roles to make freedom and democracy flourish in the world.
