Holy Stars/Nations FC Match Brouhaha: GFA Rules for Holy Stars

The Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has ruled in favor of Basake Holy Stars regarding on-field altercations that led to the abrupt termination of their 33rd Week Ghana Premier League (GPL) fixture against Nations FC at Ampain AAK Soccer Arena on June 1, 2025.

The committee, in accordance with Article 33(2) and Article 34(12) of the Premier League Regulations, has declared Nations FC guilty of the offense and has thus declared Basake Holy Stars winners of the match.

As a result of this ruling, three points and three goals have been awarded to Holy Stars.

In accordance with Article 33(5)(a), three points have been deducted from Nations FC’s accumulated points.

Additionally, a fine of 2,500 cedis is payable to the GFA, with 50% of which shall be paid to Holy Stars, as stipulated in Article 33(5)(b) of the Premier League Regulations.

The ruling further states that “the GFA prosecutor shall investigate the report of the match officials and charge all persons found culpable.”

According to the GFA Statutes, Nations FC has only one day to file an appeal against the ruling.
Nations FC’s accumulated points have been reduced to 58, placing them fifth on the GFA’s official league table.

Bibiani Gold Stars has been crowned the winner of the 2024/25 GPL with 63 points, followed by Hearts of Lions with 60.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak are third and fourth, respectively, with 58 points each, as determined by the Head-to-Head Rule.
