The Northern Chapter of the Ghana Institute of Architects (GIA) has lauded DBS Industries for its unwavering commitment to manufacturing high-quality construction materials tailored for the Ghanaian market.
During an extensive facility tour at the DBS plant in Kotwi-Nkoransa, Architect Kofi Owusu, President of the GIA Northern Chapter, led a delegation of over 70 architects to inspect the company’s evolving production lines.
Following the tour, Architect Owusu described DBS as a premier “one-stop shop” for comprehensive building solutions.
Innovation and Market Adaptation:
Architect Owusu highlighted the company’s keen understanding of local environmental demands, noting their consistent ability to innovate.
“This marks our third visit to this site, and each year, DBS demonstrates significant improvement,” Architect Owusu remarked.
He added, “From their signature Colorlink roofing sheets and steel products to their concrete range and now their innovative ready-mix concrete, they continue to elevate the standards of construction in Ghana.”
Government Support:
Recognizing the company’s impact on the economy, Architect Owusu appealed to the government to foster a more collaborative relationship with DBS Industries.
He suggested that providing targeted incentives and tax relief would empower the company to expand its operations further.
“By offering tax waivers and incentives, the government can help DBS scale production. This expansion would directly translate into more jobs for the youth, significantly addressing the country’s unemployment challenges,” the GIA President stated.
Industry-Academia Synergy:
Welcoming the delegation, Architect Nana Dr. David Nyame-Tawiah, Deputy Managing Director (DMD) of DBS Limited, emphasized the importance of the relationship between industry players and professional bodies.
He noted that DBS is committed to a “knowledge-exchange” model where academic theory meets industrial practice.
This collaboration, he argued, is vital for ensuring structural integrity in Ghana.
“At DBS, our goal is to provide the highest quality materials to help eliminate the tragic incidents of building collapses and construction accidents,” Dr. Nyame-Tawiah said.
He added, “We welcome the exchange of ideas with the GIA to maximize knowledge transfer and improve our collective output.”
