German President Pays Courtesy Call on Asantehene in Kumasi

The President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, has paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Tuesday November 4, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

This visit forms part of his ongoing three-day official visit to Ghana, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between Ghana and Germany.

Upon his arrival at the Prempeh International Airport, President Steinmeier was warmly received by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Frank Amoakohene, the Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Richard Ofori-Agyeman Boadi, and other prominent chiefs of the Asante Kingdom.

During his visit to the palace, President Steinmeier is expected to engage in discussions with the Asantehene on matters of mutual interest, including trade, investment, and cultural exchange.

The German President’s visit to the Manhyia Palace is a significant gesture of respect to the traditional leadership of the Asante Kingdom and underscores the strong historical and cultural ties between Ghana and Germany.

Prior to his visit to Kumasi, President Steinmeier held a meeting with President John Dramani Mahama at the Jubilee House in Accra yesterday , where they discussed ways of deepening cooperation between Ghana and Germany in areas such as trade, investment, technology, and development.
