German President Engages KNUST Community in Kumasi

The President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, paid a visit to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi as part of his 3-day state visit to Ghana.

During his engagement with the university community, President Steinmeier held discussions with the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rita Akosua Dickson, and alumni on technological skills development and youth empowerment through mutual benefit.

The discussions centered on ways to enhance collaboration between Germany and KNUST in the areas of research, innovation, and capacity building.

The German President’s visit to KNUST is a testament to the strong partnership between Germany and Ghana in promoting science, technology, and innovation.

Akyeamfour Asafo Boakye Agyeman Bonsu, Asafohene and head of Akwamu Division on behalf of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, thanked the German President for visiting KNUST and expressed hope for continued support from the German government in improving human and equipment resources at the university.

With him were Frederik Landshöft, German Ambassador to Ghana, Odeneho Okyere Kusi Ntrama, Esumegyahene, Hon. Haruna Idrisu, Minister for Education, Hon. Frank Amoakohene, Ashanti Regional Minister, and other dignitaries.

President Steinmeier’s visit to KNUST forms part of his broader visit to Kumasi, where he paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace.
