Former German international footballer and Ghanaian descent, Gerald Asamoah has paid a courtesy call on Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on November 5, 2025.
The visit was to officially introduce his health-focused non-governmental organisation, the Gerald Asamoah Foundation for Children with Heart Disease, and its partners to the Asante King.
Asamoah, a silver and bronze medalist in the 2002 and 2006 FIFA World Cups, respectively, is in Ghana with a team of specialists to provide free heart surgeries at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra and Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi.
The former Hannover 96 and Shalker 04 forward’s initiative aims to give back to society while also training domestic doctors.
