When they got to the Tafo Magazine, Baba Ibrahim was repairing another car so they decided to wait for their turn. Unfortunately, the gas cylinder that Baba Ibrahim was working with exploded and injured Amponsah, who was standing a few metres away.

The victim, whose injuries were said to be severe, was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), where he was admitted for treatment, only to give up the ghost in just 24 hours.

“On 3/09/2025 at about 1930 hours, Ibrahim Abdulai of Kenyase called at the station and reported that on 01/09/2025 at about 1400 hours he and his mate, Charles Amponsah, aged 41, now deceased, sent their towing truck to a straighter by name Baba Ibrahim at Tafo Magazine for some works.

“That whilst the straighter was working on another vehicle, the deceased was also standing by their towing truck, which was about 4 metres away from the cylinder.

“Suddenly the welding cylinder exploded and the button on the cylinder went off, hitting the deceased on the head. He sustained a deep cut on the head and was rushed to KATH emergency unit.

“He was admitted for treatment but died on 2/09/2025 at about 1600 hours,” the Tafo-Pankrono District Police statement, which the DAILY GUIDE has sighted, disclosed.
