The President’s nominee for District Chief Executive of the Akrofuom District, Gariba Mohammed Mustapha, was unanimously confirmed by all Assembly members.
All 17 Assembly members voted “Yes” in support of his nomination in a “Yes” or “No” election organized by the Electoral Commission (EC).
His Lordship Kofi Owusu Sekyere, a judge at the Obuasi Magistrate Court, administered the oath of office to the DCE-elect.
In his acceptance speech, the new DCE thanked the Assembly members for the confidence reposed in him and assured them that he would work hard to ensure the district’s development.
The Member of Parliament for the constituency, Hon. Joseph Azumah, who was present at the Assembly’s special meeting, praised the Assembly members for confirming the President’s nominee and pledged his support for the Assembly’s development.
He also called on stakeholders to join his crusade against illegal mining in the district.
