TWO SETS of twins have mysteriously drowned in an illegal mining (galamsey) pit at Ntobroso in the Ashanti Region, sparking sad scenes in the town.
One of the deceased set of twins, have since been identified by the Nyinahin District Police as Jason Mohammed Snr and Jaden Mohammed Jnr, who are both five years old.
The other set of twins have also been identified as Alhassan and Fuseini, who are both eight years old. Their bodies have been deposited in the morgue for preservation and autopsy.
The two sets of twins, reportedly, went to swim in an abandoned mining pit in Ntobroso when calamity suddenly struck, as all four of them got drowned mysteriously.
The incident happened on March 15, 2026 at 5pm. The Assemblyman of Ntobroso-Aniamaoh Electoral Area, Emmanuel Domfeh, reported the case to the police to investigate.
He reported that “at about 1700 hours, two sets of twins, from different families, namely Jason Mohammed Snr and Jaden Mohammed Jnr, both five years and Alhassan and Fuseini, both eight years, all deceased, went to swim at an abandoned galamsey pit for fun at Ntobroso and got drowned in the process.
“That all the four children were retrieved from the pit dead. On receipt of the complaint, police proceeded to the scene where the bodies were inspected, but no mark of violence was seen to suggest a foul play,” Nyinahin District Police report disclosed.
According to the police, all the four lifeless bodies were conveyed to the mortuary for preservation and autopsy, to confirm the cause of death.
“Photographs of the scene were taken and bodies thereafter conveyed to the Community Hospital Mortuary, Nyinahin, for preservation and autopsy,” the police statement concluded.
