Five of 9,846 candidates sitting for the 2025 BECE in the Kumasi Metropolis are inmates from the Kumasi Central Prisons.
They were prepared for the examination at the Reformation School at the Kumasi Central Police Station in examination being held at 35 centers across the city.
In summary, 4,693 boys and 5,153 girls from 95 public schools and 139 private schools are participating in the examination.
The Metropolitan Chief Executive of Kumasi, Mr. Richard Ofori-Agyeman Boadi, visited some BECE centers at the commencement of the examination on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, to encourage and motivate the candidates to excel.
During his visit, he urged candidates to determine to pass the examination, adding that their ambition to be prominent people in society hinges on the examination.
He advised them to avoid any form of examination malpractice and comport themselves to prevent cancellation of their papers.
“This examination marks the beginning of your careers. How you perform will determine your future,” Mr. Ofori-Agyeman Boadi stated.
The Metro Director of Education, Mr. David Oppong, who was part of the Metropolitan Chief Executive’s entourage entreated the candidates to do away with fear, keep their composure, and commit all they have learned to memory as they write the examination.
He advised the candidates not to engage in any unacceptable lifestyle during and after the examination period.
Examination centers visited by the Mayor of Kumasi and his entourage include Opoku Senior High School, Adventist Day Senior High School, Asanteman Senior High School, and Serwaa Nyarko Senior High School.
Also with the Metropolitan Chief Executive of Kumasi were Henrietta Aboagye, PRO of KMA, and Judith Mensah Bamford, Metro Education Head of Planning Unit.
