The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the EKK Charity Foundation, Mr Evans Kofi Kwafo on Monday together with members of his non-governmental organisation donated educational materials and teaching aids to the Chaboba community in the Bono East Region.
Some of the items were school bags, school uniforms, shoes, sandals, pens, pencils and exercise books.
The CEO also presented the community with 97 bags of cement to support efforts to put a dilapidated school structure in proper shape.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony, Mr Evans Kofi Kwafo said, “I was moved with compassion to support the community when I learnt about their predicament”.
Background:
Chaboba is a remote community in the Sene West District of the Bono East Region.
The community has long struggled with limited educational resources, leaving many of its young learners at a disadvantaged position.
For years, children in Chaboba have faced significant challenges attending school, with many lacking basic school materials such as books, shoes, and bags.
With teachers often hesitant to work in the isolated area, students have been left to study in dilapidated buildings and, in many cases, forced into early farming to help their families make ends meet.
It was not surprising that the entire community on Monday was thrown into a state of ecstasy during the visit by the CEO and Members of the EKK Charity Foundation.
Items Distributed:
The EKK Foundation donated 1,500 books and 300 school bags.
The organisation also supplied school kids with 300 pairs of shoes as well as boxes of pens and pencils.
Appreciation:
Receiving the items, Mr. Samuel Anyobode, School Improvement Support Officer (SISO) for the district thanked Mr Kwafo and the Foundation for the gesture.
He noted that the items donated would go a long way to make a difference in the lives of the children as well as the community.
Mr Anyobod used the occasion to appeal to teachers and other social as well as health workers who are posted to the community to dutifully accept same so that the people could benefit from their knowledge and skills.
“We are grateful to the EKK Charity Foundation for this gesture and we appeal to teachers who are posted to this area to accept and come so that they can help to train our people and make their lives count in the future”, Mr Anyobode appealed.
Foundation Spokesperson:
Ms. Mavis Nyantakyiwaa Agyei, the Secretary of the EKK Charity Foundation affirmed the foundation’s commitment to supporting underprivileged areas.
“The situation in Chaboba was dire, and we felt compelled to step in because our aim is to ensure every child has access to education, regardless of their location”, she stressed.
