The Governing Council of Christian Service University (CSU) has appointed Dr. Stephen Banahene as Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University, effective 1st October 2025.
He becomes the fourth head of the University, and the second person to be appointed as Vice-Chancellor under the University’s Chartered status.
Background:
Dr. Banahene is widely respected as a result-driven and pragmatic leader.
He has served in various capacities since joining the University in 2006, contributing significantly to its academic, administrative, and institutional growth.
Until his appointment, he served as the Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University.
Education:
Dr. Banahene holds a PhD in Business Management from Universidad Empresarial De Costa Rica, Costa Rica; an MA in Industrial Management from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK, and a BA (Hons) from the University of Ghana.
He is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM-UK) with expertise in service quality, brand management, competitive strategies, and small business development.
Dr. Banahene has over two decades of teaching, research, academic, and leadership experience; supervised students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Positions Held:
He has held key administrative positions including Dean of School of Graduate Studies and Research, Dean of School of Business, Head of the Department of Marketing, Head of Department, Accounting and Finance; and Staff Representative on the University Council.
He has also served as an External Examiner for the University for Development Studies, and a former Board Chair of Adanwomasi Senior High School.
He is an alumnus of Opoku Ware School and Adanwomasi Senior High School.
Dr. Banahene has contributed to several peer-reviewed journals, and presented papers at international conferences.
His research-led approach to teaching and commitment to strategic marketing and institutional growth distinguishes him as an astute academic and administrator.
Status:
He is married with three children.
