Dr. Brown wins 2 awards from World Diplomatic Federation

DR. BROWN Osei Konadu, a Clinical Psychologist and Therapist, who is the President of Blood and Genotype Awareness Foundation Ghana (BGAF), is a proud recipient of two prestigious awards from the World Diplomatic Federation.

He has received the Humanitarian Ambassador for Sickle Cell Eradication and Champion of Genotype Advocacy and National Health Integration awards

The two remarkable awards were presented to him during the Blackstar Acclamation Honorary Award Conference 2025/26, held at Movenpick Ambassador Hotel, Accra.

Dr. Brown, who is a renowned global Genotype and Sickle Cell expert, has a vision of working to totally eradicate sickle cell and its related diseases from the country by the year 2030.

Part of a citation attached to his awards read “The Humanitarian Ambassador for Sickle Cell Eradication award recognizes your tireless efforts to raise awareness and promote initiatives aimed at eradicating sickle cell disease.

“Your dedication to improving the lives of those affected by this condition is truly commendable.

“The Champion of Genotype Advocacy & National Health Integration award acknowledges your outstanding contributions to promoting genotype awareness and advocating for national health integration.

“Your leadership has been instrumental in shaping Ghana’s healthcare landscape.
One may admire your unwavering commitment to addressing critical health issues, your passion for advocacy, and your dedication to improving the lives of Ghanaians”.

This year’s awards ceremony was under the theme ‘Rebuilding Trust, Restoring Hope: A New Era of Governance in Ghana’.

In an interview with the DAILY GUIDE after receiving the awards, Dr. Brown thanked the organizers of the awards ceremony for recognizing his outstanding works and honouring him accordingly.

The world-acclaimed Genotype and Sickle Cell expert stated emphatically that the awards would motivate him to continue with his exemplary works for the country through community outreach programmes.

Dr. Brown said “The Blood and Genotype Awareness Foundation, has launched a nationwide campaign aimed at raising awareness about sickle cell disease and ultimately eradicating the condition in Ghana by the year 2030.

“The foundation is committed to educating the public on the importance of knowing one’s blood type and genotype, emphasizing that informed decisions can significantly reduce the prevalence of sickle cell disease.

“Through community outreach, educational programs, and partnerships with healthcare providers, the organization seeks to empower individuals, especially young people and couples with the knowledge needed to prevent the transmission of the disease”.

Sickle cell disease, Dr. Brown pointed out, continues to affect thousands of families across Ghana, saying “With proper awareness, testing, and responsible decision-making, this condition can be drastically reduced and eventually eliminated”.

The President of BGAF therefore appealed passionately to all media houses in the country to actively support his foundation in realizing its great ambition.
