Flag-bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Vice President of the Republic, Dr Mahamodu Bawumia has presented an amount of GHC200, 000.00 towards the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) Renovation Project.
The gesture, according to his representative, Dr Anthony Nsiah-Asare, who doubles as presidential advisor on health was to enable the hospital carry on with the renovation works at the 70 year old facility.
Dr Nsiah Asare noted that the Vice President has his eyes on the project and plans to allocate special funds to complete same in the next budget in 2025 when he is sworn in as President.
“The Vice-President believes in this renovation project and has plans to make budgetary allocations to support its completion when he is successful in the upcoming elections”, Dr Nsiah Asare stated.
Showing support for the project in his personal capacity, Dr Nsiah-Asare, who incidentally was a former CEO at KATH donated GhC 50,000.00 towards the renovations.
He noted that as someone who was at KATH some years ago, he was privy to the work that needed to be done to make the facility fit for purpose.

KATH Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Professor Otchere Addai-Mensah thanked the Vice President and Dr Nsiah Asare for the gesture.
He noted that the donation was timely since the funds were needed to help speed up works that needed to be done on the facility.
Prof Addai-Mensah also commended the Vice President for planning to allocate funds in the budget of his administration so as to ensure the project was completed on time.
“I am grateful to Dr Bawumia and your humble self, Dr Nsiah-Asare for this donation and despite it being government’s responsibility to have done this renovation i am glad that you’ve responded to the call by Asantehene to donate to same”, Prof Addai-Mensah stressed.
Inspection:
The CEO alongside his management took the opportunity of the visit by the Vice-President’s team to go on a tour of portions of the facility that is under renovation.
The team, later in an interview, expressed satisfaction at the rate and pace of work on the facility.
