THE DISTRICT Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South-East in the Ashanti Region, Thomas Owusu Ansah, has advised persons with disabilities to live above their personal limitations.
According to him “Disability is not inability”, stressing that persons with disabilities are capable of working to fend for themselves and also contribute to national transformation.
The Ahafo Ano South-East DCE was speaking during the official presentation of different items to about 100 persons, living with disabilities, in his area on Thursday July 21, 2022.
The items presented were brand new Wheelchairs, Refrigerators, Sewing Machines, Farm Inputs and an undisclosed amount of money to help the beneficiaries to live comfortably.
Owusu Ansah also appealed passionately to the beneficiaries of the items, which was funded through the District Assembly Common Fund, to make good use of the items and benefit from them.
Felix Twumasi Barima, District Social Welfare Officer, explained that the purpose of presenting the items “is to improve the living conditions of the beneficiaries and make them more productive”.
He also admonished people with disabilities in society to desist from begging for alms on the streets since such acts cannot ensure their survival.
Twumasi Barima said the beneficiaries would be frequently monitored to ensure they make good use of the items presented.
