Project Background:

The project, which reached completion in two years, was funded entirely through the MP’s Common Fund.

The construction was made possible after the Chief of Asokwa generously released land for the facility.

Hon. Appiagyei revealed that she is currently lobbying the Bui Power Authority Board to facilitate a second phase of development at the site.

This proposed expansion will feature a three-story building comprising ancillary medical facilities and dedicated quarters for nursing staff.

Universal Healthcare Access;
Hon. Appiagyei emphasized her commitment to healthcare infrastructure.

“My goal is to ensure that before my tenure ends, all twelve electoral areas in Asokwa possess their own health centers, matching the standard of those already established in Kaase, Kuwait, Atonsu-Agogo, and now Asokwa New-Town,” she stated.

Charge:

Hon Appiagyei called on the Asokwa Municipal Assembly to implement a rigorous maintenance schedule while urging incoming health professionals to serve with unwavering commitment.

She noted that all necessary equipment and administrative offices had been fully provided to ensure immediate operational success.

Stakeholder Commendations:

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Amoh Kamel, lauded the MP’s initiative and thanked the traditional leadership for their cooperation.

He further announced that the Assembly is finalizing plans to construct two additional health facilities in Ahinsan and Chirapatre.

The Assembly Member for the area, Hon. Oscar Riches, expressed profound gratitude to the MP for responding to the community’s plea.

He noted that the available land also allows for significant future expansions.

Maintenance:

The Chairman of the occasion, Dr. Bashiru Abdul-Majeed (Medical Director of Kumasi South Hospital), urged residents to take proactive control of their health.

He highlighted a concerning trend in public health statistics:

Rising NCDs: Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as hypertension and diabetes are currently the leading causes of preventable deaths in the region.

Call to Action:

He advised the public to undergo regular screenings and adopt healthier lifestyles to combat these “silent killers.”

The Regent of Asokwa, Nana Fe-Baamoah II, and the Municipal Director of Health Services, Madam Faustina Osei Mensah, both echoed the call for a “strict maintenance culture” to ensure the facility serves the community for generations to come.
