All 31 Assembly members of Ahafo Ano South East in the Ashanti Region voted ‘Yes’ to confirm the District Chief Executive nominee, Ibrahim Yamba Nelson Issaka.
The election was held on May 15, 2025, and organized by the Electoral Commission (EC) in accordance with Section 20(1) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936).
Prior to the DCE nominee’s confirmation, assembly members elected Hon. Ishmael Agyemang Duah as their new Presiding Member( PM).
The new PM will serve a two-year renewable term, as stipulated in Act 936.
In his acceptance remarks, the DCE-elect was happy that President John Dramani Mahama gave him the mandate to represent them in the district.
He promised to work closely with assembly members, traditional leaders, party leaders, and other major stakeholders, adding that working with stakeholders would move the district forward.
In attendance at the special meeting were Mr. Kaleem Abdallah Adam, District Coordinating Director; Mr. Joseph Dapaah, former DCE for Ahafo Ano South East; Nana Asare Bediako, former DCE for Atwima Nwabiagya; and Mr. Gabriel Barima, former DCE for Ahafo Ano South.
Others included Mr. Baah Acheamfour, Ashanti Regional Secretary of NDC; constituency executives of NDC; traditional leaders; heads of department; and security agencies in the district.
