A BAN has been placed on the movement of people in Kumasi and the surrounding areas on the night of Thursday, September 18, 2025.
The late Asantehemaa, Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III, will be buried at the Royal Mausoleum in Breman near Kumasi on the day, hence the curfew.
On that same day (Thursday) all shops in Kumasi will not operate during working hours as a church service will be held for the Asantehemaa at Manhyia Palace in the afternoon.
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II made the announcement during the one-week observation of the death of the Asantehemaa on Thursday.
He said the late Queen’s body will be laid in state (Dote Yie), starting from Sunday, September 14, adding, public viewing of the body starts on Monday, September 15th to 18th.
According to Otumfuo, a ban has been placed on funeral rites in Asanteman from September 1st, 2025 until further notice due to Asantehemaa’s funeral.
Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III was enstooled Asantehemaa in 2017, succeeding her late mother, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, who died in late 2016.
