Asante Kotoko SC’s injury woes are taking a toll on the team’s performance in the Ghana Premier League (GPL), Head Coach Abdul Karim Zito Kabutey has revealed.
The Porcupines are missing several key players, including Walid Fuseini Neymar, Emmanuel Antwi, Shaibu Abubakar, Seth Kojo, Isaac Mintah, Elvis Kyei Baffour, and Andrews Ntim Manu, who are all on the injury list.
Notable players like Baba Yahaya, Saaka Dauda, and Kwame Opoku have just recovered from their injuries, but others are still struggling to get fit.
Coach Zito expressed his frustration, stating, “I’m compelled to use what I have currently to get the results I want, but it’s not easy for me as a coach.”
Despite these setbacks, Kotoko remains unbeaten after eight matches, with four wins and four draws, positioning them sixth on the league table.
They have two outstanding matches against Young Apostles and Basake Holy Stars.
Zito assured the club’s supporters that the medical staff is working tirelessly to ensure the injured players return to full fitness soon, adding, “We are doing our best with the available players, but we need all our players to be fit as soon as possible to achieve our goals this season.”
