The community of Chirapatre marked Boxing Day with a vibrant display of civic duty, compassionate outreach, and sporting prowess.
Led by the traditional leadership, the day’s events seamlessly blended environmental stewardship with festive generosity.
Leadership Through Service:
The Chief of Chirapatre, Nana Offe Kusi Wiredu II, accompanied by the Nkosuohene, Nana Ankoma Nyame, and a delegation of sub-chiefs and royals from the Manhyia Palace, spearheaded a massive clean-up exercise.
The initiative, energized by the rhythmic melodies of a brass band, saw traditional leaders and local youth working side-by-side.
The team cleared weeds and debris along the corridor stretching from the Chirapatre Roman Catholic Church to the main cemetery road.
The Ghana Fire Service provided technical support, ensuring that gutters and streets were thoroughly desilted and washed.
During the exercise, Nana Wiredu II demonstrated personal leadership by visiting the homes of the elderly and the infirm, offering words of solace and checking on their well-being.
Compassion for Widows:
Following the physical labor, the focus shifted to the Palace, where Nana Offe Kusi Wiredu II sat in state to host over 100 widows and elderly residents.
In a heartfelt gesture of holiday spirit, the Chief presented each guest with a bag of rice, a live chicken, and high-quality wax prints.
These gifts were intended to ensure that the most vulnerable members of the community could celebrate the season with dignity and plenty.
Fabi Boys Triumph in Christmas Gala
The afternoon’s festivities turned toward the football pitch, where four teams namely Chirapatre, Fabi, Davita School Complex, and DBS Industries competed for the community trophy.
The Semi-Finals:
In two tense encounters decided by spot-kicks, Fabi overcame the Chirapatre Youth team 3–1 on penalties, while Davita School Complex narrowly defeated DBS Industries 6–5 in a thrilling shootout.
The Grand Finale:
The final was a showcase of dominance by the Fabi Boys, who secured a convincing 3–0 victory over Davita School Complex to be crowned the undisputed champions.
A Call for Unity and Virtue
Addressing the media, Nana Offe Kusi Wiredu II emphasized that the development of Chirapatre requires collective effort.
“I urge all residents, including those living abroad, to support my administration’s developmental agenda,” the Chief stated.
He added that, “Through the collaborative efforts of the Nkosuohene and our sub-chiefs, we can sustain initiatives that empower our youth and protect our widows.”
Nkosuohene:
The Nkosuohene, Nana Ankoma Nyame, commended the Chief’s proactive vision but also offered a stern admonition to the youth.
Warning against “waywardness and promiscuity,” he reminded the younger generation that “the devil finds work for idle hands,” urging them to pursue self-sufficiency and honorable employment.
The celebrations concluded with a vote of thanks to Davita School Complex and DBS Industries, whose sponsorship was instrumental in making the day’s events a success.
