The Coalition to Elect Mahamudu Bawumia (CEMAB) issues a stern condemnation of recent actions by Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong and his supporters.
These actions involve the spreading of misleading information and propaganda through a video from a private event organized by COGA-DFW, a respected Ghanaian organization in Dallas.
The target of this misinformation campaign was H. E. Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Hajia Mrs. Samira Bawumia, the Second Lady of the Republic.
It is important to clarify that the video in question contains false information. Dr. Bawumia’s campaign did not host any fundraising event in Dallas, Texas, or anywhere else in the USA. The video should be dismissed as baseless.
Such actions are not only irresponsible but also contradict the democratic principles of the New Patriotic Party, which Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong aspires to lead.
CEMAB emphasizes that using an event celebrating Ghanaian heritage for political gain and mischief is divisive and harmful to the unity and integrity of the New Patriotic Party.
This approach, orchestrated by Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong and his supporters, must be condemned by all who value the well-being of the party.
The Coalition urges Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong to publicly disavow these actions and guide his supporters toward constructive political discourse, especially as the November 4, 2023, delegates conference approaches.
It is essential to keep the focus on policies that will benefit Ghana rather than engaging in unfounded accusations and smear campaigns that undermine the democratic process.
Let it be clear: aspirations for leadership should never justify the character assassination of individuals who have shown dedication and service to our nation. H.E. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Hajia Mrs. Samira Bawumia have consistently demonstrated their commitment to Ghana without resorting to vendettas against Hon. Agyapong.
It is concerning and disheartening that he is taking this destructive path, fueled by false claims from his supporters, which he does not disavow.
We urge Hon. Kennedy Agyapong to exhibit leadership and good sportsmanship, rather than appearing as a bitter, angry wounded lion seeking to devour the very hand that had fed and supported him and some of his supporters.
Signed
