A deserving and colourful farewell ceremony was held on September 25, 2025, at the premises of the Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) for retiring Chief Metro Guard, Madam Janet Amoh.
Around 10:45 am, a guard of honour with Sergeant Frederick Amaoko Mensah commanding, inspected by Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Richard Ofori-Agyeman Boadi, was conducted alongside the retiring Chief Metro Guard, and newly promoted Metro Guard, Madam Joyce Nakey.
Eulogising the outgoing Chief Metro Guard, the Mayor of Kumasi lauded her 41 years of servitude, noting that her dedication and commitment to duty were no less an achievement.
He further noted that the Assembly would continue to count on her rich knowledge in addressing challenges confronting the work of metro guards.
The Mayor charged the new Metro Guard to emulate the good example of her predecessor, urging her to continue with the legacy she’s inheriting.
Prior to an emotional pulling-out procession by the metro guard contingent supported by the Armed Forces School Brass Band, 10 personnel were promoted to meritorious ranks.
Theresah A. Adutwumwaa, a Senior Metro Guard, was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.
Nine personnel promoted from Constable to Senior Metro Guard rank were Saawone Ali, Lord Asafo Adjei, Isaac Owusu Darkwa, Kwaku Gyamina, Alex Kwame Antwi, Bright Amaniamponf Adjei, Francis Tawiah, Ahenkan Boadi Eric, and Ampong Emmanuel.
Later, an equally befitting retirement party, supervised by Mrs. Grace Omare Sasu, Metro Head of Human Resources Management, was organised at the CLOGSAG Hall in honour of the outgoing Chief Metro Guard.
Staff, traders, security officers, assembly members, clergymen, transport operators, and a sizable number of attendees, including family and church members, converged to bid her farewell.
Outpouring her gratitude, Madam Janet Amoh thanked God for seeing her through to the end of active service.
She also thanked the leadership of KMA, staff, family, and loved ones for their unflinching support throughout her period of service.
She advised the leadership of KMA and staff, and the public to lend her successor the support she enjoyed, wishing everyone the best in their endeavours.
