In compliance with Section 40 of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bosome Freho, Hon. Charles Appiah-Kubi, visited four communities in the district.
The communities are Besease, Sumdadieso, Freboye, and Anyaso.
Section 40 of Act 936 mandates the participation of local people, particularly stakeholders, in local governance.
By engaging with communities under his jurisdiction, Hon. Appiah-Kubi would enable the Assembly to understand local needs, drive development in their area, and outline his vision to the people.
He emphasized the need for the people to collaborate with the Assembly to ensure equitable distribution of national resources.
He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to community development and inclusive governance to alleviate poverty in local communities.
Hon. Appiah-Kubi urged house owners in the predominant farming communities to be moderate with the cost of rent to encourage workers who have accepted postings to work in their area.
This came to light when teachers in the Freboye community bitterly complained about the treatment meted out to them by some landlords, citing unreasonable rent costs.
The DCE stressed to farmers the importance of protecting farm inputs supplied by the government to ensure increased productivity.
Hon. Appiah-Kubi cautioned cocoa farmers against the misuse or sale of subsidized farm inputs provided by the government.
“I will ensure the arrest of anyone who sells farm inputs provided by the government,” he stated. “I want to ensure free and fair distribution of farm inputs to farmers.”
He assured farmers that the government would soon provide resources to boost agribusiness and improve farmer livelihoods, creating one-stop hubs for farmers to access essential services and support.
Community leaders in the communities visited by the DCE took turns wishing him well and promising to make his reign a success.
