In accordance with Section 20(1) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), the Municipal Chief Executive nominee for Bekwai, Salifu Issah, has been approved by all 49 assembly members present at a meeting held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
The Act requires approval from at least two-thirds of the Assembly members present and voting at the special meeting.
The Bekwai Municipal Assembly has a total of 51 members, but 49 present at the confirmation election supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC).
After his confirmation, the MCE-elect thanked President Dramani Mahama for the confidence reposed in him.
He furthermore urged assembly members, traditional leaders, and party faithful to rally behind him to bring rapid development to the municipality.
The Municipal Coordinating Director, Sheila R. Arthur, was present at the meeting along with heads of security agencies, constituency executives, heads of departments, and other party faithful in the municipal assembly.
