The former Member of Parliament for the Asante Akyem North Constituency, Honorable Kwadwo Baah Agyemang, has asserted that the former Vice-President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, significantly surpasses his fellow flagbearer aspirants in terms of character and competence.
Speaking during a recent interview on Wontumi TV over the weekend, Hon. Agyemang posited that the Vice-President embodies the essential qualities required for national leadership, setting him apart from the other contenders.
Exemplary Character:
Hon. Agyemang emphasized that Dr. Bawumia possesses the calm demeanor and good temperament crucial for making well-considered and effective decisions, particularly under pressure.
He further noted that the Vice-President consistently displays exemplary character and refined mannerisms, attributes he believes are notably rare among the other aspirants.
“There are certain indispensable qualities needed in a person who aspires to lead a nation, and all these crucial traits such as good character, sound temperament, and commendable mannerisms are unequivocally found in Dr. Bawumia,” the former MP stressed.
Professional Competence:
The discussion also centered on Dr. Bawumia’s unquestionable professional competence.
Hon. Agyemang highlighted that Dr. Bawumia’s career trajectory, beginning from his early days at the Bank of Ghana (BOG), demonstrates a profound and consistent level of capability in his area of expertise.
The former legislator pointed out that this high-level competence has been directly linked to Dr. Bawumia’s rapid elevation in every institution he has served.
He recalled Dr. Bawumia’s swift promotion from Special Assistant to Dr. Paul Acquah to Deputy Governor within a short period at the BOG.
Furthermore, Hon. Agyemang attributed the smooth re-denomination of the Ghanaian cedi during the tenure of President John Agyekum Kufuor significantly to Dr. Bawumia’s industry and expertise.
“Dr. Bawumia’s competence is beyond any reasonable doubt; the facts clearly substantiate this. His career is marked by steady ascent, from being a special assistant to a governor, he rose to become the Deputy Governor, and not only did he supervise the implementation of the cedi re-denomination but he has also spearheaded the ambitious Digitalization agenda in both the Kufuor and Nana Addo administrations,” Hon. Baah noted.
The Preferred Choice for NPP:
Ultimately, Hon. Agyemang concluded that selecting Dr. Bawumia as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer offers the party the best chance for a successful electoral outcome.
He noted the choice of Dr Bawumia promises quality, composed leadership.
Hon Agyemang believes the delegates of the NPP, as well as the broader Ghanaian electorate, genuinely desire a leader whose entire being exudes a sense of calm and stability.
According to the former MP, Dr. Bawumia is precisely this kind of person.
